Bernadette married Stephen Smith on March 10th 2007, followed by a honeymoon in the Cook Islands. Photos of the wedding and the engagement party are in the Photo Gallery here.

After the first six months of marital bliss, Bernadette and Stephen made the move overseas to see something of the world before settling down. The two spent two months travelling in Thailand and Europe, visiting Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, France and Britain before ending up in Guernsey, where they are living in a house which they share with another young Antipodean couple. Apart from strong rivalry during the rugby and cricket, 'Ross House' is a very happy home!

Bernadette finished her Economics Degree in 2003 and began her career in the Sydney Water Graduate Program, moving up to a position as an executive officer. In Guernsey, she and Stephen both quickly gained interesting work in the finance industry. Bernadette is working as an Investment Analyst, while Steve is a Fund Administrator.. While in Guernsey, Bernadette is studying towards gaining the CFA designation (CFA= Chartered Financial Analyst), and Stephen is also studying to add to his experience. After giving up many weekends to study, a trip to Turkey in June 2008 was an excellent reward, particularly the warm weather.

Bernadette and Stephen are getting involved in tennis in Guernsey, and Steve has been able to continue his involvement with rugby, playing with both the First Grade and Second Grade Guernsey teams. An 'away' game involves a 15-40 minute flight . . . a bit different from two hours on an old bus in Sydney!

Bernadette is a keen sailor and has been a member of the Pastime crew for several long voyages, including the 2003 trip to the Louisiades and Solomons, to Grafton in 2004, and to Lord Howe Island in 1999 and 2005. Stephen has also shown his credentials as a sailor, with valuable contributions as crew for the Grafton and Lord Howe Island trips. The pair hope to do some sailing in the Northern Hemisphere, despite the cold weather.

Stephen and Bernadette are extremely excited about their upcoming visit to Australia for Paul Kerr's marriage to the lovely Angie Moses.
